In my many years working in New Zealand and applying for positions through Employment Consultants, I can honestly say there are only a few ‘gems’ out there who actually care about the employee or potential employee. Many Consultants just do not bother to even contact applicants to say that their application have been received, is not going to proceed, or that they will keep you on their records should another opportunity come up.

"Since 2006 HV Power have engaged Alpha to find and recruit a range of applicants for positions in their growing company. Recently HV Power requested the help of Alpha’s Merle Holland in searching for 2 new staff: the first for a logistics and admin role to work in the MV Switchgear projects team. The successful candidate put forward by Alpha was a capable young Brazilian lady who had previously worked in a similar role for a multinational supplier in her home country.

The second position was for an Electrical Fitter – Panel Builder position. The company had tried for several months to recruit locally without success. As filling this new position became critical HV Power engaged Merle Holland to secure someone from overseas with specialist skills – the company had never done this before.
