We are looking for a junior-intermediate Project Manager for a contract through until December 2025 for our large public sector client.
Role tasks will cover:
- Project manage a specific workstream within the project, including:
- Coordinating and facilitating meetings with various stakeholders
- Develop/ maintain project documentation including implementation plans, status reports, stakeholder updates
- Provide regular updates on workstream progress, challenges and outcomes to project manager
- Maintaining actions and decision log
- Identifying risks/ issues and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Actively contribute to executing tasks within the workstream, e.g. reviewing documents, analysing and consolidating data files, supporting campaign material.
- Assisting in executing implementation plans, ensuring that key deliverables and milestones are met on-time and within scope.
- Supporting project team in coordinating activities across directorates and internal/ external stakeholders.
- Assist with tracking project progress to inform weekly and monthly ministerial updates. Including working across directorates to update progress reports and facilitate sign off processes.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining project documentation, including timelines, stakeholder and communications plans, status updates, project delivery plans.
- Facilitating Ministerial requests with project work leads (SME’s) i.e. weekly report items, talking points, OIA’s, WPQ’s and aide memoires.
- Supporting project team to adjust implementation strategies based on outcomes data, changing priorities or circumstances.
- Attend governance group meetings in the absence of the senior project manager, including maintaining actions and decision log, preparing agenda pack and progress updates.
Key Requirements:
- Reasonable knowledge of project management principles, tools and lifestyle stages.
- Strong experience in coordinating or managing projects, preferably within government agency or large-scale projects.
- Experience with coordinating and facilitating meetings and stakeholder hui.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, ensuring that critical deadlines are met.
- Strong organisational skills, including creating and tracking detailed project timelines and deliverables
- Strong Excel / Word / PowerPoint skills
- Experience in coordinating various stakeholders, including managing stakeholder expectations
- Strong written and verbal communicational skills + attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain performance when working with tight timelines.
- Ability to adapt to changing project needs and challenges, often in the context of new priorities i.e. Ministerial requests and OIA’s etc.
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a wider project team.
- Highly self-motivated, with a proactive approach to project management.
You must be based in Wellington or Auckland and able to be in CBD offices for 3 days per week.
