My Story - Jacqueline Phyffer
This month our My Story candidate is our April 'Temp of the Month', Jacqueline Phyffer.
1. Tell me a little about where you grew up and what it was like.
I'm from South Africa town call Rustenburg about 2hrs away from Johannesburg. Wonderful wildlife, mountains area. I worked in the mining area which had challenges of violent strikes and lots of labour disputes.
2. Why did you choose the career you have worked in?
I never choose my career, the Supply Chain industry was an opportunity that came across my path and I thought it would challenge me and now I love every moment. Procurement is the most challenging but once a project has been completed the most awarding as you make a difference.
3. What was it about NZ that attracted you?
Culturally accepting, family and work-life balance. Mostly a world away from violence and a better future for my kids.
4. How have you found living and working in NZ?
I'm still new in NZ but I'm loving the safety of walking or shopping with no worries of being robbed.
Working is different as Managers here say thank you and you feel like family, not as just a number on the payroll.
5. Can you tell me a little about your experience with Alpha, and how we have been involved in your journey?
I'm so happy to be part of Alpha, after 1 interview they placed me in an environment that is suited to my personality and exactly what I dreamt off. Alpha knew exactly where I could fit in and I'll always be grateful that my 1st employment in NZ has been so positive.
Natasha and Sophie are just a phone call away and I get regular emails and phone calls - just to check if I'm still happy.
Definitely, an awesome company to work for and I'll recommend them every time.
