This month our My Story candidate is our June Temp of the Month - Kelly Thomas. Kelly recently spent time working from the Alpha Auckland branch covering for staff on leave. It was a pleasure having her as part of our team.

1. Tell me a little about where you grew up and what it was like.

I grew up in Mangere Bridge in Auckland and moved to Sydney when I turned 22 to pursue a B2B sales role. It was an eye opening experience and it taught me a lot about working with people and driving sales to get the best possible results. I then moved back to New Zealand and started up in the Wine game. I’ve travelled for the past 7 years working in multiple wineries all over the southern hemisphere. It can be seasonal work which means at times I was looking for temp work to fill the gap between vintages. It was because of this lifestyle I was introduced to Alpha Recruitment.

2. Why did you choose the career you have worked in?

I have a real passion for fine wine and fantastic food! It is the kind of industry where no day is ever the same and it allowed me to do what I’m best at, work hard, travel to amazing places and meet even more amazing people!

3. What was it about NZ that attracted you?

Its home. I have been all over the world and have witnessed some breath taking places but coming home to NZ and looking outside of where I grew up I found that NZ is pure beauty and like they always say it’s the people that make the place!

4. How have you found living and working in NZ?

One big adventure…..it’s the perfect balance of working with a group of people you genuinely get along with paired with being close to my family and also having the ability to go on epic adventures all over the country.

5. Can you tell me a little about your experience with Alpha, and how we have been involved in your journey?

It’s been absolutely fantastic. The team is phenomenal, they are all extremely hard-working, friendly and will do anything they can to help you out. Being in between roles or looking to move from your current role can be very daunting and the Alpha team was nothing short of spectacular in making sure I was comfortable and well looked after.
