My Story - Kristofer Adrien Toled

27 December 2019 Posted in My Story

This month our My Story candidate is our December 'Temp of the Month', Kristofer Adrien Toled.

1. Tell me a little about where you grew up and what it was like.

I grew up from an average family in the Philippines' Queen City of the South, Cebu. Growing up in my shoes have been fun, with close knit family and friends, and at the same time an up hill climb, with day to day life struggles brought about by several economic, environmental and personal factors.

2. Why did you choose the career you have worked in?

I have always been inclined to work in the medical field due to my profession. I took an oath to put others before myself and I take that oath to the heart. Plus with the experience I have in the medical field, I do not see myself in any other field that I can be more efficient and effective. Though, I am not closing my doors and I am very open to any career opportunities.

3. What was it about NZ that attracted you?

With all honesty, the most attracting aspect of New Zealand are the opportunities and the prospective future that can be attained here. Given, that my family has tried to migrate to New Zealand about 15 years back, it was a no-brainer when I had another opportunity to step foot into this wonderful land.

4. How have you found living and working in NZ?

New Zealand is a wonderful place, where on can get in touch with nature in more ways than one. Living and working in NZ at the start of my journey here as a migrant was not easy, though with perseverance I can certainly say that my life has gone better each morning I wake up. This makes me look forward to a very bright future for me and my future family which in turn motivates me to take on every challenge of life and work in New Zealand head on; with confidence and an outlook of a better tomorrow.

5. Can you tell me a little about your experience with Alpha, and how we have been involved in your journey?

My first interaction with Alpha was indeed unexpected. I was unhappy with my previous workplace and was randomly applying for any medical related job postings online. I can honestly say that I was desperate to move out of my previous job and would settle for any other job that was offered on the table. There were several failed applications, but I am thankful for Alpha for being able to recognize my competency through my application. I was inducted into my current role, provided with the necessary training and was put into the field immediately. Every now and then my e-mail would notify me with correspondence from Alpha personnel to check on how I was doing, in which was very much appreciated. I have no regrets taking on this role and I would like to take the opportunity to thank Alpha and their wonderful team for all the support.
