My Story - Pamela Shears

4 March 2018 Posted in My Story

This month our My Story candidate is Pamela Shears. From Canada Pamela applied with us for an EA as she has extensive experience in administration in the medical sector. She is just lovely and has a been fabulous addition to our Temporary team. Here is her story as told to Morgan Whittle.

1. Tell me a little about where you grew up and what it was like.

I grew up in Digby, Nova Scotia in Canada.  It's a small town but a great place to start a life long career and build a solid foundation for future travels.

2. Why did you choose the career you have worked in?

I have always enjoyed working in a hospital setting.  Events that take place within the confinements of a hospital can be life changing; while being a part of this I try to make my role as positive of a contribution as possible.Often times people find hospitals to be a sad and depressive place, however, if you can look past this and see the benefits of people coming together to help others, it can actually be an uplifting place to work.

3. What was it about NZ that attracted you?

I lived in Australia for a year and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I thought the next best thing to try was New Zealand :)  Something is to be said about the Southern Hemisphere and the lifestyle here.

4. How have you found living and working in NZ?

I've enjoyed working in NZ and found the people to be very welcoming.  I have really enjoyed getting to know Auckland and feeling like a local.

5. Can you tell me a little about your experience with Alpha, and how we have been involved in your journey?

After my first visit with Morgan, I knew that I had found the right recruitment agency for me.  I was not looking to be another number of a list of temps.  I also knew that I had the skills and that they were going to be matched appropriately.  Alpha has been the best decision I've made in Auckland.
