Lending A Helping Hand: Ronald McDonald House

3 September 2020 Posted in Community Involvement

Like everyone else in Auckland right now Ronald McDonald House at Auckland City Hospital are doing it tough.  The need for their services hasn’t gone away – but Covid 19 restrictions have meant no volunteers to cook meals for the children and their families. Almost every year a team from Alpha volunteers up at the RMH and cooks their guests a dinner. Instead, this year, Alpha had the amazing opportunity to place Alireza Kaveh in RMH as a full-time cook free of charge for a week. RMH is a long-term client of Alphas and we could think of nothing better than to help them out with this contribution in these trying times.

Alireza is originally from Iran and became a citizen of New Zealand in 2017. He is an attentive chef with over ten years of experience. Well-versed in managing kitchens that serve 50 - 200 people per day, he is enjoying his role and happy to be helping such a great cause.

Maia Faulkner, Auckland Programmes Manager, RMHC New Zealand has this to say “Alpha Recruitment Ltd kindly gifted us a cook for a week! Ali spent 38.5 hours in the kitchen cooking 3-meals a day for House families. This kind of donation is a huge help at any time, but during lockdown - when we have had to change our foodservice model and produce so many more meals each day, and at a time when fundraising events have had to be cancelled – it's really been amazing! Thanks so much!””
