Position Overview:
The IT Trainer plays a key role in facilitating the effective adoption of technology solutions within the organisation. This role involves bridging the gap between technical creators, designing training material, and delivering engaging, easy-to-understand training for various user groups. The IT Trainer will work closely with developers and business analysts to ensure the training content is accurate and aligned with both technical specifications and business needs, ensuring that users at all levels can successfully utilise IT systems and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Material Development:
- Collaborate with technical developers and business analysts to understand system requirements and translate them into user-friendly training materials.
- Develop comprehensive training resources, including manuals, eLearning modules, videos, and job aids, tailored to various user groups.
- Ensure training materials are accessible, engaging, and aligned with the organisation’s Learning Management System (LMS) standards.
- LMS Content Management:
- Upload and manage training materials on the organisation's LMS, ensuring content is easily accessible and up-to-date.
- Regularly review and update materials based on system updates or feedback from users.
- Training Delivery:
- Conduct both in-person and virtual training sessions for various user groups, ensuring all participants gain the knowledge and skills required to use systems effectively.
- Provide training for technical staff and non-technical end users, adjusting the delivery to meet the audience’s technical literacy.
- Offer post-training support, including troubleshooting and answering queries from users.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work with internal teams, including developers, analysts, and business leaders, to identify training needs and requirements.
- Gather feedback from training participants to continuously improve training materials and delivery methods.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with the latest trends in IT training, eLearning tools, and instructional design.
- Proactively suggest improvements to training processes and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
- Reporting and Evaluation:
- Track and report on training effectiveness, learner progress, and feedback.
- Identify gaps in knowledge and skills and propose solutions for further development.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Business, or related field.
- Certifications in training or instructional design are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in IT training, instructional design, or a similar role within a technical or business environment.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and content creation tools.
- Experience delivering training to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to simplify them for non-technical users.
- Proficiency in IT systems, software applications, and cloud-based technologies.
- Knowledge of eLearning development tools and LMS management.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to different learning styles and user groups.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical thinking with the ability to identify gaps in knowledge and design solutions.
- Desirable Skills:
- Experience with agile methodologies or project management frameworks.
- Experience in creating blended learning experiences (e.g., a combination of in-person, online, and self-paced learning).
