About the role:

 

Our client is a large government agency looking for experienced senior policy advisors to work on a high-profile digitisation project as part of a small project team looking to effect positive change in the NZ public sector.

 

Looking for candidates that have experience or knowledge of the legislative process and also ideally have a legal background. They may also consider candidates with more of a legal background with some experience across relevant legislative and regulatory policy spaces.  

 

The role will be working closely with a project lead and a small team that is scoping up options on how to make rule changes that will inform legislative changes that will increase operational efficiencies to systems and services accessible to the New Zealand public.

This is a fixed term contract looking for an ASAP start through until the end of June 2026.

 

Key skills and experience required:

 

•                     Experience operating at a senior policy advisor level or above within the NZ public sector

•                     Strong legislative policy experience including an understanding of primary and secondary legislation

•                     A legal background would be ideal but not essential

•                     Strong policy analysis and writing skills are essential

•                     Any Justice sector or court system experience would be highly beneficial

•                     Strong machinery of government experience

•                     Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
